where is a list of conditions, all of which must match: { field, op, value } with = != < <= > >=, or in with a list. A type is a condition on _type. orderBy sorts by one field, then _id. resolve lists where references sit (author, categories); each one becomes its document. A field that queries keep filtering or sorting on gets an index on every shard by itself.
